As one of the most influential netball centres in Aotearoa, the Christchurch Netball Centre (CNC) continues to grow participation and a love of the game at all levels.
The Centre’s leadership relies upon effective timely communication. This adds tremendous value to the experiences of CNC members and the commitment of our dedicated volunteers.
For nearly a decade, Dee Atkinson has helped the Christchurch Netball Centre navigate a rapidly changing communications landscape. Dee’s attention to detail and ability to adapt have been incredible assets to the Centre and our membership.
As the Christchurch Netball Centre celebrated 101 years last winter, Dee reached her own nine-year milestone with the organisation. It was a wonderful celebration of past and present, history and hopes for the future. Dee played a pivotal role in bringing our members and material to support the Centenary together.
Often described as conscientious and reliable, Dee has been responsible for elevating CNC communications through consistency and social media channels. She has overseen the integration of the sporty web site, making a potentially difficult transition seamless.
Dee’s genuine enthusiasm for the business and its stakeholders has been apparent in many ways, according to CNC Netball Delivery and Participation Lead Megan McLay.
“She is a huge asset to our business – very proactive, and a highly respected member of the community.”
Dee led CNC communications through the pandemic, when lockdowns demanded a highly responsive approach. She ensured that CNC remained a trusted source of communications and strengthened our voice in the community with her composure under pressure.
Dee has pioneered push notifications through sporty, and a regular stakeholder newsletter.
Megan also notes her work commentating on premier games – even more remarkable, given that Dee follows the games from her home in the North Island. Her knowledge comes from her own experience as a player, coach and lifetime netball fan.
Dee now lives in Cambridge, where she is the Waipa Outreach Librarian.
