
Following the first centre pass to start Premier 1 competition on 22 April, netball competition and participation at all levels is now underway.
Three weeks into the Christchurch Netball Centre Senior Competition and Cashmere High School A and Kia Toa A lead the way in Senior 1. Cashmere High School is unbeaten to this point after three rounds, and look to finish the opening round strongly with games against St Nicholas C and Christchurch Girls High A who start the competition in Senior 1 this year.
In Senior 2, Marist Albion B heads the points table, followed by Halswell B. Both teams play each other this Saturday on centre court at 2.30pm. Senior Reserve 1 is lead by Marist Albion C and in Senior Reserve 2 Merlins A and Riccarton Netball A are tied on points, with both unbeaten after three games. Both teams meet this Saturday in the top of the table clash at 11.30am.
In the second and third grades and underage grades from Under 19 through to under 11, grading games are still underway, with all teams two games into Round 1.
Saturday netball competition sees some 230 games contested from 8.40am until the last games at 3.05pm. ANZ futureFERNS years 3 to 5 comprises games on a Thursday and Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
ANZ futureFERNS for preschoolers and years 1 and 2 school children started on Mothers’ Day. These fun-filled sessions which encourage participation and enjoyment run for 8 weeks until 5 July at the Christchurch Netball Centre. All sessions commence at 10am.
