Christchurch Netball Centre confirms GM appointment

Christchurch Netball Centre (CNC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Angela Pryor as General Manager following a rigorous process that attracted a high calibre of candidates from across New Zealand.

According to Board Chair Warren Poh, this appointment reflects the board’s determination to support the future growth of netball programmes and pathways across the city.

“We are appointing a highly-regarded Christchurch leader in the recreation and sport sector, with unparalleled experience in programme development, facility management and commercial acumen. Angela has a passion for sport and is well known for collaborating with and learning from regional partners and community champions.”

Angela has a proven track record managing and activating Christchurch City Council’s sport and recreation facilities, increasing participation and providing quality experiences. She has a love of netball and is passionate about providing opportunities for women and girls.

Angela’s extensive facility management experience is critical for netball, a sport that is navigating delivery across four venues. She is ideally placed to support our growing community adjusting to a new space at Ngā Puna Wai.

“Our team and community deserve the standard of experience and support that Angela brings. She is committed to helping us grow a love of the game, with a lens of equity and inclusion. She can help strengthen pathways for athletes and officials and most importantly, appreciates the critical role volunteers play in our future”.

“As the outstanding candidate, Angela demonstrated the ability and willingness to listen to and learn from our community,” Warren adds. “As a board, we agree that the future of netball relies upon being insight-driven and community-led. Angela has what it takes to show value to our clubs and volunteers – by shaping a strategic plan based on the insights they offer.”

Angela was employed by CNC in July to provide operational expertise to CNC’s new indoor sports facility at Ngā Puna Wai. Over that period, Angela recognised firsthand the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of netball in Christchurch.

On September 9, Angela will commence her role as General Manager and join Sara Norton (Community and Participation), Julia van Dyk (Game Development) and Janna Hooper (Netball Delivery) to elevate CNC’s efforts to support clubs, show value to volunteers and improve development pathways.

“The dedicated CNC team will be supported to achieve their purpose: to grow a love of the game at all levels, across Ōtautahi and beyond.”
